Fallout 76 is getting custom servers, as part of Fallout 1st subscription

Fallout 76

Bethesda is adding custom servers to Fallout 76, allowing players to build as much as they like. They will need to have a subscription to Fallout 1st service.

Ever since the launch of Fallout 76, in 2018, players have been after private servers. They were added in 2019, but they weren’t customisable.

Thanks to a new system, called Fallout Worlds, players on private servers will have the power to customise as they see fit. This means that they will be able to tinker server rules, the better to suit their play style.

Bethesda released a announcement post on the addition, detailing what you will be able to do. “Combine unlimited combat AP and infinite ammo to become a mighty wasteland warrior,” it promised. “Configure creature spawns for serious big game hunting.” “Control weather effects such as fog, nuclear radiation, or even Quantum Storms.”

Custom servers will be available from September, for players who have a subscription to Fallout 1st. The service is $99 for a year, so only the truly devoted vault-dwellers will be able to experience these custom servers.

Fallout 76 was underwhelming and plagued with bugs on release. Reviewing the game for VideoGamer, I railed at its bugs and its bloat but praised its world. “What remains fully formed is the world building, where Bethesda creates a place through what’s left behind. Fallout’s junk is journalistic.”
