NBA 2K22 offers first look at new features coming to the court this September

NBA 2K22

Publisher 2K has detailed some of the new gameplay features that this year’s NBA 2K22 will bring to the table when it launches this September.

The game’s first Courtside Report touts “key on-court gameplay improvements” that promise players more control in both offense and defence.  New signature moves and combos will join a revamped shot contest and blocking system, with more details to come.

Seasons is also set to expand with “more content, more rewards and more ways to play” and an all-new way to level up your MyPlayer is being teased, again with more information in August. MyTeam returns, and there’s a whole new City and Neighbourhood depending on if you’re playing the new-gen on previous gen versions. In fact, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions’ Neighbourhood will be built on a spacious cruise ship. Meanwhile, MyPlayers will also be able to earn rewards thanks to a new “Quest” system on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

MyCareer mode will also have separate experiences depending on if you’re playing the new-gen or previous gen version with a more “traditional” experience promised for the latter. However, on the new-gen edition you’ll get to pursue side ventures to “build a profile in lucrative and trendy spaces”. Examples given include getting into the fashion world to help your promotion, or even getting involved in the music business.

Once more, we’re expecting more information on how this will work is promised in August, with another further deep dive focusing on the updates to MyNBA and MyWNBA will be along in September. You can check out the full Courtside Report detailing some of NBA 2K22‘s features here.
